【摘要】:TheFederalOccupationalSafetyandHealthAdministrationin29CFR1910.1000SubpartZdesignatesthatcertaingasesandvaporspresentinworkplaceatmospheresmustbecontrolledsothattheirconcentrationsdonotexceedspecifiedlimits.Thispracticewillprovideameansforthedeterminationofairborneconcentrationsofcertaingasesandvaporslistedin29CFR1910.1000.ApartiallistofchemicalsforwhichthispracticeisapplicableispresentedinAnnexA1withcurrentThresholdLimitValues(TLV)(2)andtypicalmeasurementrangesfortheselectedchemicalsasobtainedfromvariousmanufacturer’specifications.Thispracticemaybeusedforeitherpersonalorareamonitoring.1.1Thispracticedescribesthedetectionandmeasurementoftimeweightedaverage(TWA)concentrationsoftoxicgasesorvaporsusinglength-of-staincolorimetricdosimetertubes.AlistofsomeofthegasesandvaporsthatcanbedetectedbythispracticeisprovidedinAnnexA1.Thislistisgivenasaguideandshouldbeconsideredneitherabsolutenorcomplete.1.2Length-of-staincolorimetricdosimetersworkbydiffusionalsampling.Theresultsareimmediatelyavailablebyvisualobservation;thusnoauxiliarysampling,testnoranalysisequipmentareneeded.Thedosimeters,therefore,areextremelysimpletouseandverycosteffective.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.

【摘要】:Secondarywastewatertreatmentusingactivatedsludgeisoneofthemostimportantbiologicaltreatmentprocessesinusetoday.Thesemi-continuousactivatedsludge(SCAS)testemploysactivatedsludgefromadomesticactivatedsludgeplanttoassessbiodegradationoforganiccompounds.TheSCASsystemprovidesahighpotentialforbiodegradationbecauseofthehighbiomasstochemicalsubstrateratio,theregularreinoculationwithavarietyofmicroorganismsfromthenaturalsewage,thepossibilityofco-metabolismbecauseofthevarietyoforganicsubstratespresentinsewageorsyntheticfeed,theopportunityforslow-growingmicroorganismstoberetainedduetothehighsludgeage,andalonghydraulicretentiontimetoincreaseselectionpressure.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresforthedeterminationofthebiodegradabilityorremovability,orboth,ofnonvolatileorganicchemicals(Henry''sConstantx003C;10x2212;3atm/m3/day)usingalaboratorybenchscaletestandactivatedsludgefromadomesticwastewatertreatmentplant.1.2ThistestmethodisderivedfromaproceduredevelopedforsurfactantsbytheSoapandDetergentAssociation(1,2),onedevelopedforalkylbenzenesulfonatesbyASTM(seeTestMethodD2667)andonedevelopedbytheOrganizationforEconomicCooperationandDevelopment(OECD)forassessinginherentbiodegradation(3)andalsocodifiedintheToxicSubstancesControlActTestGuidelines(4).Forassessmentofvariability,replicatetestsystems(threeormore)shouldbeemployed.Itisrecommendedthatthetestsbeusedforchemicalcompoundsthatcanbewellcharacterizedwithrespecttochemicalandphysicalproperties.Testingofmixturesorfullyformulatedproductscanleadtoseriousproblemsindatainterpretations.1.3Theproceduresinvolvetheexposureofthetestchemical(s)toactivatedsludgemixedliquormicroorganismsoverafinitetimecycleinspeciallydesignedaerationchambers.Biodegradabilityisdeterminedfromdissolvedorganiccarbon(DOC)measurements,fromradiochemicalanalyses,orfrommeasurementsoftestchemicalconcentrationusingaspecificanalyticalmethod.BasedonDOCanalysesalone,biodegradationcanonlybeclaimedifotherremovalmechanisms(forexample,adsorption,volatility,orchemicaltransformation)arediscountedbymeansofspecifictestingorknowledgeofphysicalchemicalpropertiesofthetestchemical.Modificationsofthistestmethodforwaterinsolubleandmoderatelyvolatilechemicalsarepresentedinthistestmethodandprinciplesaredescribedinsomewhatmoredetailelsewhere(see5,6).1.4Theseproceduresmayalsobeusedasameansofacclimatingmicroorganismstoanorganicchemicaloveranextendedperiod.Theacclimatedmicroorganismsmaybeusedasaninoculumsourceforotherbiodegradationtests.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardstatementsseeSection7andinNote1.
